After a friend told me about a friend of hers who, after having fought cancer has found herself using a long term colostomy bag that she didn't think the made her feel pretty, I've decided to research colostomy bag covers and am currently in the process of developing something that I think may help.
Stay tuned for a video interview with the lovely young mum and see what we design, and subsequently make and the impact it will have!
A charity I have been supporting (in a different way) for a few years, is based in Uganda. It's main objective is getting children off the streets and into school but it also has a branch off that teaches women & girls to sew their own dresses and sanitary pads, and I hope one day to go over to see this in action because seeing the work this charity does made me think about just how sanitary protection is taken for granted.
So many of us wouldn't have thought that this issue would be something any young woman in the UK should have to worry about, but with the cost of living increasing all the time many are having to make the choice between sanitary protection or food.
After having put out an add on my local social media page I have gathered materials and patterns to make re useable sanitary pads, which I intend to distribute to those that need.
Keep an eye on my blog page for how I get on!
To keep the momentum going in between projects (I say that as if there's a gap?!) scrap scrunchies will be available to buy from me.
The materials obviously will be random but that will hopefully add to their charm! I will do this mainly locally to start but if there's any requests please feel free to send me an email!
